The 3 Types Of Lessons

The Korean Language section offers 3 types of lessons: 1 on 1, group, and custom lessons. Each type gives their own unique settings that you can choose from to best fit your tastes in your journey to learning the language!

1 on 1 lessons are just as the title says. If you prefer to study with only me instead of a group setting, then this section is the place you should take a look at! How the pace of the session goes is all in your hands--if you have a desired pace. Or, it could also mean that you just prefer more detailed and personal feedbacks on your learning.

Compared to that of 1 on 1 lessons, this is the complete opposite where you will have a few others with you studying Korean at the same pace. Think of it as a very small sized classroom, if you will. Learn the language with your friends!

If you have something else on your mind other than the traditional offers given here, then you can suggest them in this section. We can personally discuss the details of your learning goals, and you can be as creative as you want with the suggestions! There is no harm in asking, especially for the purpose of learning after all.

What The Lesson Session Features

Conducted ONLY Through Online Meetings

You can enjoy being in the comforts of your home without worrying about getting ready to go outside for sessions! It requires little to prepare for the sessions, and you can learn more quickly and efficiently rather than having to worry about other things (Believe me, I know and have been there lol). I also do not mind if you do not turn on your camera during the sessions, because even I do not show my face online unless I really need to in order to show you pronunciation examples. I understand privacy is important --- so be as comfortable as you would like with me! All I ask is your participation and obviously, your voice since... well, this is a spoken language learning site after all.

The Different Options for Online Meetings

The default I have the online meetings for sessions according to the calendar is through Zoom or Discord, but I am open to other formats if technical difficulties occur. Other formats I have used for students are anything that can make it easy for me to share my computer screen so that students can follow along, and so that includes medias such as Google Meets, Facebook, and Instagram. I have given walkthroughs for these sites before, and I am more than happy to teach how online learning works for here as well before lessons begin, with no extra cost.

Hmm.... Do those "social medias" sound unprofessional?... Heh. I don't really see myself as an overly professional teacher. Anyways, if you are opting for other forms of online sessions, I HIGHLY suggest you choose an account you are comfortable with me being able to see since most of those are public profiles on a social media. Practicing caution, especially online is important, and I understand there will be a lot of you who do not know me, and are completely new.

If any other formats are needed other than Zoom or Discord, discuss it with me when you book lessons. I will gladly setup sessions for those through the Korean Language accounts to accommodate you! If you also need other formats of conducting online sessions that are not mentioned above, then please do not hesitate to suggest them to me and see if I can setup in other areas as well, and I will see if the other methods are possible. I would like to give as many people chances to learn the language without the burden of getting into the difficulties of technology!

How I Teach

When it comes to teaching, I mainly use textbooks as a guideline to see what to begin teaching. Aside from the textbooks, I use a variety of ways to teach class online that mainly involves sharing my computer screen to give visual aid, along with audio. Materials I use outside from the textbooks can include:

  • Digital whiteboard

  • Written documents

  • Vocabulary flash cards or spreadsheets

  • Direct animations or doodles I create myself for on demand educational videos

  • Presentation slides

  • Online games that include the Korean Language

  • And many more that involves a computer.

I would like to say I am at least a bit flexible with things involving computers, and so I do everything I can to make sure it is as understandable as it can be when I teach the language to you. The list of things I can use to teach can keep increasing, and I am open to suggestions when you discuss your lessons with me!

Textbooks For The Sessions

With the exception of custom lessons, both the 1 on 1 and group lessons specifically use the Korean textbook from Seoul National University (SNU), or in Korean, 서울대 한국어, since it is the book I have used my entire time studying the language. It is a series of books that have levels 1 through 6 with each level having two parts (A and B), and a different color. However, I only teach levels 1 and 2. That means, you should be looking for the books with the colors yellow and green when you are thinking about getting these books (up to you to decide where you get them from). Another thing to note is that each book comes with a workbook, although, I will only require people to use this when they have opted for homework, or would like to practice together in sessions with the workbook.
